Welcome to The CORE Performance Huddle™

I recently presented at a conference in Chicago on Employee Ownership. My presentation was on how to create CORE Performance in the context of a game. While all of it was well received, one particular part – Managing from the “Sweet Spot” – drew a noticeable response from the audience.

I would like to share that information with you in this short newsletter I call The CORE Performance Huddle. It's shorter than a traditional newsletter and is intended to provide focused, actionable information to keep you all winning.

Sincerely, Whitney Walpole

As a special gift, the full version of The Manager’s Guide to The Sweet Spot is being made available to you though our website via this special link. Please click here.

Here are my three favorite Sweet Spot techniques, taken from the Managers Guide to the Sweet Spot:

  1. Create a Sweet Spot Huddle as part of your management process: This is a meeting you have several times a year with each of your employees. In the first huddle ask, “What was your best day at work in the last 3 months?” The answers to this question will provide the beginnings of discovering a sweet spot.
  1. Build an internal PR campaign on the Sweet Spot: “We are a company focused and built on Strengths.” (Company, team and individual employee sweet spots.) Make this part of your internal identity and mission –it will create a strong culture where employees reinforce one another’s strengths and execute more effectively as a result.
  1. Increase team effectiveness by identifying individual sweet spots in a group setting: Help team members see how to utilize one anothers' sweet spots more often – assign owners to goals only if the tasks align with an employee’s sweet spot. Discourage employees from convincing other team members to own a goal when it would require struggle or stress to accomplish it.
